Senior years
From promotion races to the top division
League records list Clongorey United as Division 1 runners up in 2015 and Division 2 runners up in 2016. The later Clongorey FC side reached the KDFL Senior Division, where home matches at Old Bog Road brought leading Kildare clubs into the village. The senior side left the top division before the 2024 season.

Seven goals against Naas United
A 2023 Senior Division Cup meeting with Naas United captured the spirit of Clongorey’s senior team. Danny Callan, Adam Byrne and Tosin scored as Clongorey led three times, only for Naas to win 4–3 with two late goals. Ronan Kelly, Bryan Leavy, Marvin Mbala and Dave O’Callaghan were among the Clongorey players praised after the match.

Recent football records show Clongorey teams at youth level. The club advertised an under 17 side for players born in 2009, while a 2026 match report records Clongorey playing Naas in the boys’ under 16 Major 2 competition. From Old Bog Road to a new youth chapter
Clongorey’s football story has moved through several levels of the Kildare and District Football League. The name Clongorey United appears in the league honours during the middle of the 2010s, before Clongorey FC climbed into the Senior Division. Home matches were played at Old Bog Road, where the club met the strongest junior sides in the county.
The senior years produced hard, close football. A 3–3 draw with Suncroft saw Clongorey come from behind three times, with goals from Reece McLaughlin, Adam Byrne and Leigh Baldwin. The cup match against Naas brought another late finish. Sean Casey’s team led three times before losing in added time, a result that hurt but also showed how competitive the side had become.
The senior team’s departure from the top division before 2024 did not end football in the village. Recent boys’ fixtures, an under 17 recruitment drive and the arrival of Clongorey’s first girls’ team point to a club rebuilding from younger age groups. For a small community, those teams offer more than a weekly match. They give children a local shirt to wear, parents a nearby club to support and the village another reason to gather at the grounds.
