A South Louth club built around Muirdeach Park

Albion Rovers FC was formed in 1977 and is based in Monasterboice, County Louth. The club’s official profile says its aim is to promote football and provide high-quality facilities for the South Louth catchment. The contact page gives Muirdeach Park at Newtown, Monasterboice, near Drogheda.

The club describes Muirdeach Park as a 14-acre site. Its published facilities include three 11-a-side pitches, one 7/9-a-side pitch, a 60-by-30-metre floodlit all-weather pitch and two dressing rooms. Eddie’s Place, a coffee shop named for the late underage manager Eddie Maher, is described as the heart of the club.

Albion’s public team structure is wider than a single schoolboy league. The official profile names teams from U8 to senior level, including girls and ladies. The 2026 membership page is more precise: it offers free U5–U7 academy registration, juvenile membership for boys and girls from U8 to U17, adult men’s membership and ladies’ membership.

That span gives local players a route through several stages of club football.

The same club page says teams have competed in the Drogheda School Children’s League, North East Counties Schoolboys/Girls League and Dundalk Schoolboys League. The live IYF records here use the NERL code, and the regional league club entry supplies the crest and match context.

Irish Youth Football currently connects 29 records to Albion Rovers for 2026–27, all coded boys. Six are U12, six U13, six U14, three U15 and five U16; three more have no age label. The academy, U8–U11 boys, U17 boys, girls’ ages and adult teams described by Albion are not linked. The cards below are extensive but still incomplete club coverage.

The IYF fixture view has no upcoming game at present. The results view is busy: it returns 50 saved results and reports more beyond that first batch. A current NERL U13 division page shows Albion home and away results, while the league’s August 2026 match record confirms Muirdeach Park and a 6–5 home result against Enfield Celtic.

Albion’s official honours page is present but does not contain a usable trophy list. No league or cup titles are invented here. A 2020 article about Albion players helping the Drogheda League ETP win a Leinster U15 title concerns a representative squad, not an Albion club trophy.

There is verified recognition outside a traditional honours roll. The FAI included Albion Rovers among Club Mark clubs receiving a Healthy Ireland walking-track award. The 2026 FAI volunteer programme also honoured Albion’s Steven Reay at Club Mark Two Star level.

Albion and neighbouring Walshestown FC also run a shared Football For All programme. The FAI’s account of that partnership supports the club’s inclusive community work without suggesting that its Football For All participants appear among the 29 linked boys’ records.

The club’s current crest is supplied through the NERL feed and appears on the match cards. A dependable written statement of both current home and away kits was not found on the official club or league pages checked, so the colour fields stay blank. Badge colours alone are not treated as kit evidence.

Muirdeach Park is the correct club destination, and current NERL match pages place it on New Line in County Louth. An academy notice confirms use of the all-weather pitch, while the club’s FAI camp notice confirms the ground can host boys and girls for organised activity.

Published facilities do not guarantee that the coffee shop, dressing rooms or every pitch is open for each youth game. The sources checked do not state a permanent spectator parking arrangement, step-free route or toilet schedule.
