Burrin Celtic was formally founded on 14 February 1987 in Ballon, County Carlow. Its name comes from the River Burrin and was chosen to welcome players from surrounding areas.
The club’s first home was Pier Park. It won a divisional cup and promotion during its first league season, then moved to another local pitch in 1998.
A fundraising effort supported the purchase of land for The Valley. The club history describes the development of two pitches, a training area, drainage, floodlights, parking and changing facilities.
Burrin won the Carlow Premier League in 2007–2008 after promotion the previous season. The club website provides current contacts, membership and match information.
