Bohemian FC

Bohemian FC connects a 1890 Dublin foundation with red and black identity, a broad youth pathway and community football across the city.

Bohemian FC identity

Bohemian FC is one of Dublin’s historic football clubs, founded in 1890 and based at Dalymount Park since 1901. The red and black stripes are recognised across the city, while the youth programme gives children a route into the wider Bohs football family.

The club supports boys’ and girls’ youth football, academy age groups, adult teams and community programmes. Families should choose the right route rather than assuming every session begins at Dalymount.

Youth football across Dublin

Bohemian FC Youths runs more than 35 teams across the NDSL, DDSL and MGL, alongside Bohs Juniors. Youth pitches include Pope John Paul II Park in Cabra for small sided football, with Albert College, the Phoenix Park, Inspire, Oscar Traynor and Belvedere also used for training or larger formats.

Confirm the exact pitch and meeting point with the team. Dalymount Park is not the automatic destination for a youth session.

Bohs Juniors ages 4 to 7

Bohs Juniors welcomes boys and girls aged four to seven to a first introduction built around dribbling, passing and shooting. Saturday sessions have been held on the astro pitches at Inspire Fitness Centre in Cabra, with a free first visit for new families.

Ask the youth contact to confirm the current session time, age group and registration step. A relaxed first visit helps children learn the routine before regular football begins.

League of Ireland academy pathway

The academy provides League of Ireland age group football with men’s under 14, under 15, under 17 and under 20 teams, as well as women’s under 17 and under 19 teams. Its coaching focus is player development, game understanding and progression.

The academy is a distinct pathway from local youth league football. A player enquiry should include age, position, experience and the type of programme being sought so the club can direct it correctly.

Senior honours and club history

Bohemians has won 11 men’s League of Ireland titles, seven FAI Cups, three League Cups and the Setanta Cup. The club was a founding League of Ireland member in 1921, and its women’s senior side entered the League of Ireland in 2020.

The wider honours story gives youth players a strong connection to the red and black shirt. It also shows how academy, community and senior football can sit within one club structure.

From the Phoenix Park to Dalymount

Bohemians began at the Phoenix Park’s North Circular Road gate lodge on 6 September 1890. The club moved between the Phoenix Park, Jones Road and Whitehall before settling at Dalymount Park in 1901.

The first silverware came in the 1894 Leinster Challenge Cup. After a drawn final, Bohemians beat Dublin University 3 to 0 in the replay, starting a long competitive tradition.

Community and inclusive football

Alongside senior, academy and youth teams, Bohemians supports amputee football, Down syndrome teams, visually impaired football and walking football. Those programmes widen the ways people can take part and show that the club’s football identity is bigger than one age group or competition.

Families should ask which programme best fits the player’s needs and goals. The correct contact can explain session structure, facilities and any support required.

Joining and club contacts

Youth enquiries go to youths@bohemians.ie. General supporter membership, ticketing and academy operations are separate from registering a child to play, so families should use the football contact for team places, sessions and registration.

Before a first visit, confirm the pitch, footwear, arrival time and whether the session is at Inspire, Pope John Paul II Park or another youth venue.

First visit guide

Send the player’s name, age, area, previous football experience and the type of football they want to try. Ask whether the best entry is Bohs Juniors, local youth league football, girls’ football, boys’ football, academy football or an inclusive programme.

Arrive early, bring water and weather appropriate clothing, and follow the coach’s directions at the named venue. Keep the youth contact saved because Bohemians uses several grounds across Dublin.
