Booth Road Celtic FC

Booth Road Celtic FC connects a 2001 Clondalkin foundation with academy, boys and senior football pathways shaped by local history, green and white colours and Corkagh Park community football.

Booth Road Celtic identity

Booth Road Celtic FC was founded in June 2001 by Mark Maloney, John Finn, Colm Kernan, the late Graham White and Pearse Butler. The club grew from a local football idea into a Clondalkin pathway for boys and men, with a strong neighbourhood identity around Newlands Cross.

Green and white colours carry through the club identity. The crest brings together a football, three stars, a well and the Booth Road name, linking everyday football with local place and club history.

Clondalkin base and playing places

The club is rooted in Clondalkin and uses both Clondalkin Community Centre and Corkagh Park for football activity. The setting gives teams access to established community facilities and open park space close to the club’s Newlands Cross base.

For a first visit, confirm the age group, pitch allocation, entrance and parking instructions before travelling because different teams can use different parts of the local setup.

Booth Bhoys beginnings and local symbols

The name reaches back to the Booth Bhoys street league created by John Maher in the early 1990s. When the club was formed in 2001, that local football connection became the foundation for a new adult and underage organisation.

Matty Doyle designed the crest. Its well represents St Brigid’s Well on Booth Road, while the ball reflects John Maher’s work and the club’s street football roots.

Academy, boys and men pathway

Booth Road Celtic provides an academy route for younger players and a boys pathway through DDSL age groups including under 8, under 9, under 10, under 12, under 13 and under 14. Older players can continue into senior football through the LSL and EWFL sides.

Age groups, training places and squad needs change by season. A useful first enquiry includes the player’s year of birth, previous experience and the preferred pathway so the club can direct the family to the right coach.

Senior football and club growth

The club first entered an AUL Sunday division and won the league in its opening season under Barney McGrath. It later added a second senior team and a ladies team, while the schoolboy section was developed by Derek McHugh and Dermot Flood.

That expansion created a connected route between adult, schoolboy and community football. Players can stay involved as teammates, coaches, volunteers or supporters as the club grows.

League success and milestones

Booth Road’s senior teams have continued to build a competitive record in Dublin football. A Saturday side won the LSL Major 1B title during a treble season, adding a recent highlight to the club’s earlier AUL league success.

Honours sit alongside the weekly work of coaches, volunteers and families. The club’s depth comes from sustaining participation as well as celebrating strong seasons.

Joining and first visit guide

For a first enquiry, include the player’s name, year of birth, playing experience and whether the interest is academy, DDSL boys, LSL, EWFL or another club pathway. Ask about places, the next session, registration, fees, kit, pitch allocation and access needs.

Corkagh Park and Clondalkin Community Centre are the key local football settings. Arrive early, check the team’s exact meeting point and allow time to settle before the session begins.
