Emo Celtic
A local soccer club since 1990
Emo Celtic serves the village of Emo and the surrounding part of County Laois. The club crest carries the village church, green oak leaves, a footballer and the foundation year 1990. It is a mark rooted in place rather than a borrowed Celtic identity.
The club describes its football route as running from academy age through to senior level. That gives families a local starting point for a young child and a visible route towards older underage and adult football. Emo Celtic teams have competed in Midlands schoolboy football and the Combined Counties Football League.

From academy football to senior squads
Parents should contact the club with a child’s year of birth before attending. The club can then identify the right academy or underage group, confirm the training venue and explain registration for the current season.
Older players have had opportunities in under 17 and under 19 football as well as the senior game. Historical CCFL fixtures also show separate Emo Celtic squads at the same age level, so families should confirm the exact team name and coach when several groups are active.

Club milestones
A standout under 19 season
2018 · CCFL Under 19 Premier Division champions
Emo Celtic secured the title with two matches remaining after an 8–0 away win against Tullamore Town. The result completed the league part of an exceptional campaign.
2018 · CCFL Under 19 Cup winners
The same group completed a league and cup double by defeating Portlaoise B 5–0 in the cup final. The two trophies gave the squad a lasting place in the club’s recent story.
2019 · CCFL Under 17 league champions
Another Emo Celtic youth side followed with a league championship in 2019, confirming that the route into older youth football extended beyond one successful squad.

Community
A welcome expressed through football
Emo Celtic received national recognition in 2018 for taking part in the Club Welcome programme run by Show Racism the Red Card. The initiative connected grassroots sport with the inclusion of refugees and people seeking asylum.
The club gave residents of Montague House access to its facilities and offered free membership to children in participating families. That work was recognised alongside four other Irish GAA and soccer clubs.
The Department of Justice announcement and local coverage of the award place Emo Celtic’s contribution in its wider national setting.
