Kinsale, County Cork
Football at Madden Park
Kinsale AFC brings boys, girls and senior men’s football into Madden Park, a Fort Hill ground close to Charles Fort and the harbour.
Kinsale AFC and the town game
Kinsale on this site is the soccer club based at Madden Park, often styled as Kinsale AFC or Kinsale A.F.C. That separates it from the town’s GAA, rugby and school teams while keeping the shorter Kinsale name used across local football.
The club dates to 1935. Its modern run was revived in 1971 by Paddy Madden, whose name remains tied to the club’s home ground on Fort Hill.
Blue is the match colour attached to Kinsale AFC in Cork Youth Leagues details. The crest carries Kinsale A.F.C. wording, a blue-and-white shield, football detail, green laurel and a red banner.
Madden Park by Fort Hill
Kinsale AFC’s main football home is Madden Park, close to Charles Fort and the harbour side of town. Cork Youth Leagues place the club at Madden Park, and the club’s own history places its football base there rather than in the town centre.
The ground has two full-size pitches, dressing rooms and a clubhouse/community room. For visiting families, Fort Hill is the landmark to use before checking the pitch or kick-off detail from the fixture provider.
A second underage venue
Kinsale Community School in Ballinacubby has appeared as an underage football venue for Kinsale teams, including a Cork Schoolboys League U11 fixture in the 2026-27 season. Treat it as a separate football location from Madden Park.
Families travelling to underage games should follow the named venue on the fixture listing, because Kinsale AFC teams can be assigned to more than one local pitch.
Boys and girls pathway
Kinsale AFC presents itself as a club for boys and girls from age five through U19 football. The pathway sits across schoolboy, youth and schoolgirl football, with Kinsale AFC Girls carrying its own public updates.
New families are pointed toward the club website, ClubZap and the secretary email for registration, team messages and team contacts for the season they are joining.
Senior men’s football
The senior men’s team plays in the Munster Senior League, with the club website naming Division 2 for the first team. That gives local players a route from schoolboy and youth football into adult football in the same town.
A club update in 2023 also described pressure from larger underage numbers and the possible need for more adult football. For the latest squad entries, manager names and training times, use the club’s current channels before the season starts.
Clubhouse and town life
Beyond league football, Kinsale AFC is part of the town’s social calendar through its summer charity soccer tournament and community-room activity at Madden Park.
The clubhouse has hosted local groups such as yoga, music and fitness classes, so the ground also works as a shared town space. The setting near Charles Fort gives match days a Kinsale feel, with the harbour side of town close by for visiting families.
A strong AUL era
Before its current Munster Senior League setting, Kinsale AFC had a strong Adult League spell in Cork football. The men’s side is credited with seven AUL First Division titles, two Mossie Lehane Cups and two AOH Cups.
