Mallow, North Cork
A young red and white pathway
Mallow Town FC brings academy players into Cork schoolboy and youth football under one red and white crest.
Mallow Town in North Cork
Mallow Town FC is a youth football club in Mallow, centred on academy, schoolboy and youth teams. The club colours are red and white, and the crest carries a black castle, red banner, football and club name inside a white shield.
The identity is separate from Mallow United. Mallow United has its own Cork Youth Leagues entry, red and black colours and St Mary’s Pitch. Mallow Town FC is the red and white club connected with Carhookeal, Mallow Racecourse and the wider Mallow Town pathway.
For families, the club sits close to the heart of North Cork football: local enough for regular training and matches, but large enough to give young players several age-grade routes through the Cork schoolboy game.
From 40 players to a large pathway
Mallow Town FC was founded in 2014 by David Howell. It began with 40 registered players in non-competitive Cork Schoolboys League football, then took its first competitive step in 2016 at U12 level.
That first U12 side won the CSL U12 Division 3 title, giving the club its first named competitive honour. By 2024, Mallow Town had grown to about 350 players, teams across the age groups and a coaching group of about 50.
That rise explains why the Mallow Town name now appears across several Cork Schoolboys League divisions in the same season. The club is young beside older Cork football names, but it has become a clear local route for boys and girls who want to play in Mallow.
Academy, schoolboys and youth football
The club presents its football as a boys and girls development pathway, with coaching aimed at confidence, teamwork and love of the game. Current connected teams include Mallow Town sides from U10 through U16, with A and B squads where numbers call for more than one team.
The route has also reached youth football. A 2024 club feature named U17 and U19 representation in Cork Youth League football, giving older players a next step after the schoolboy grades.
The useful point for parents is scale. Academy football, schoolboy squads and youth teams all sit under the same Mallow Town identity, so a new family can see a route that starts early and continues through the teenage years.
Football locations in Mallow
Carhookeal is the main address carried in Cork Youth Leagues club information, with P51 RD2N attached to the Mallow Town entry. Current Mallow Town match data also uses Mallow Racecourse, while a 2024 club feature named Fairfield and St Joseph’s Road in the wider Mallow football setup.
Those locations serve different roles. Check the team message and fixture venue for the exact pitch, especially on weekends when several Mallow Town age groups are at home.
Match days for visitors
Mallow Town’s red and white colours are carried through the crest and team identity. On a busy weekend, visitors should expect a youth football setting with more than one possible Mallow venue in play.
Before travelling, check the home team, age group and named venue. Carhookeal and Mallow Racecourse can both appear in Mallow Town match information, while Fairfield and St Joseph’s Road are linked with academy and U12 activity in club material.
Away grounds named in a fixture, such as Castletreasure, Moneygourney or O’Sullivan Park, belong to that match trip. They are not part of Mallow Town’s own Mallow location list.
Selected honours
Mallow Town’s clearest named honour line is at U12 level, from the club’s first competitive title through a strong 2023-24 Cork Schoolboys League season.
The honours are kept with their season, team and competition so they read as football achievements, not as a loose list of wins.
Joining, welfare and contact
Families looking to join should use the club website and registration channel, then confirm the right age group, squad and venue with the club before travelling. Registration pages can carry past season dates or fees, so parents should check the current season detail before payment or attendance.
The club website gives the broad football offer, while current teams, fixtures and results sit in the football panels around this profile. For welfare questions, use club contact routes for local support and the FAI safeguarding material for national policy and reporting information.
