Claran Road home and St Mary’s Road roots

Moyne Villa’s present address is Claran Road, Headford, H91 H275. The club’s current ground story began with the Presentation Sisters agreement in 1998 and moved into a major facilities development phase from 2007 onward.

For visitors, Claran Road is the first place to confirm for home fixtures, bookings and academy activity. Match day checks should include the correct pitch, changing arrangements, parking and kick off time.

4G astro, grass pitches and clubhouse

The facilities include a full size all weather 4G astro pitch, a small astro area, grass pitches, clubhouse space, equipment and fields, a kitchen and balcony, plus The Dugout Shop & Café. The full size astro is floodlit and can support winter training, matches and private bookings.

That facilities mix matters for player development. It gives the club all weather capacity, a social hub for parents and supporters, and enough pitch variety to support academy groups, youth teams, adult football and visiting teams.

Community facilities beyond match day

Moyne Villa is also a community facility. The wider site includes a playground, walkway, outdoor gym and boules court, while the clubhouse supports groups such as The Hub, the No Name Club, chess and other community activities.

That makes the club more than a match venue. Families can use the ground as a community space, and the facility helps Headford offer football, recreation and social activity from the same base.

Academy and underage football

The academy pathway begins with Little Villains for children aged three to five, then moves into mixed under-6 and under-7 football, boys academy groups from under-8 upward and girls groups from under-7/8 upward.

For the 2026 academy return, the club organised Little Villains, mixed under-6, under-7 boys and girls, under-8 and under-9 girls, boys groups from under-8 to under-11, and under-11 girls. New families should check the current timetable and registration steps before attending.

Youth, adult, women and masters teams

Moyne Villa lists teams from under-13 boys through under-18 boys and girls, plus under-21 men’s football. The adult side includes Junior A, Junior B, reserves, over-35 and over-42 groups, and a women’s first team.

That team structure gives players several landing points after the academy years. A first enquiry should name the player age, school year, football background and whether the target is boys, girls, men’s, women’s, masters or academy football.

Mission, coaching and welfare standards

The club’s stated aim is to give players maximum opportunities to develop their football ability in a safe and friendly environment. Coaching expectations include preparation for sessions and matches, first aid readiness, positive discipline, parent communication and familiarity with child protection guidance.

Moyne Villa also makes respect, punctuality, commitment, proper gear, listening, helping with equipment and bullying prevention part of its player expectations. That gives parents and players a clear view of the behaviour standard before joining.

FAI Club Mark and growth

Moyne Villa earned the FAI Club Mark Entry Level award in 2021 and continued its Club Mark journey with a One Star award in 2022. The Club Mark period followed significant growth, including hundreds of members, more than twenty competitive teams and an active academy group.

The club also took full ownership of the grounds in 2017, a major step in securing football and community activity in Headford for the long term.

Connacht Junior Shield success

The 2023-24 season brought a major adult milestone. Moyne Villa won the Connacht FA Junior Shield, beating Westport United 3-1 after extra time in Castlebar.

That same week also included promotion to the Western Hygiene Supplies Premier Division, giving the Headford club both cup success and league progress in a short spell.

Circular Sports Champion in 2026

Moyne Villa won the Circular Sports Champion category at the 2026 Full Circle Awards. The award recognised practical sustainability work at the club, including reuse of football boots and kits, solar power, reduced waste, paperless systems, and pitch floodlights controlled so only the required lights are used.

The sustainability work also supports access. By reusing resources, reducing costs and running club operations more efficiently, Moyne Villa lowers barriers for families and makes participation easier for children and adults.
