Schoolboys route from U8 to U18

The club has carried Dundalk Schoolboys League teams from under-8 to under-18. That range gives children a long local route from first organised football into older underage competition.

The underage programme has also served as a route into representative fixtures, with Louth inter league games played at Muirhevna Mor AWP.

Senior and reserve football

Muirhevna Mor has senior and reserve football in the North East Football League structure. The club has played in the NEFL Premier Division and was part of the Premier Division field for the 2020 season.

The senior pathway gives older underage players a visible route into adult football without leaving the local club environment.

NEFL Premier champions in 2017 and 2021

Muirhevna Mor won the North East Football League Premier Division in 2017, finishing ahead of Newfoundwell. The club claimed the Premier title again in 2021.

The 2021 title was sealed with a 4-0 win over Parkvilla, with goals from Thomas McShane, Ciaran Sheelan and a Gavin Smith brace before half time.

Challenge Cup strength

The NEFL history lists Muirhevna Mor as Challenge Cup winners in the 2017-18 season and again in the 2018 transition season. Those cup wins sat between the 2017 Premier title and the 2021 Premier title.

The same period also included a Premier Division runner up finish in 2018, showing that the club remained in the top adult conversation across several seasons.

U12 national champions in 2026

The under-12 team won the SFAI U12 Boys National Trophy in 2026, beating Cork side Ringmahon Rangers 1-0 at Jackson Park. Captain Josh McFaul scored the goal in the final.

The victory gave the club a national underage title and a major moment for the younger teams coming through the Muirhevnamor pathway.

The U12 route to the final

The 2026 U12 campaign started in the North Leinster section and then moved into the national rounds. The Dundalk side beat Knocknacarra 3-1 away, St Bernard’s United 2-1 away, Tramore AFC on penalties after a 3-3 comeback, and Villa FC 1-0 in the semi final.

Joint managers Conall Mulvenna and Stephen McGuill led the team through the run, with large local crowds supporting the home quarter final and semi final.

Community backing and club figures

The U12 trophy run drew crowds of more than 400 for the quarter final and more than 500 for the semi final. The final success was dedicated to important club figures Ciaran Bond, Seamie Bellew and Martin Gill.

That support shows the strength of Muirhevnamor’s community backing when an underage side reaches a national stage.

Representative girls football at Muirhevna Mor AWP

Muirhevna Mor AWP has hosted Louth representative girls fixtures, including SFAI inter league games at under-12, under-13 and under-14 levels.

Those fixtures add to the ground’s value because the venue is used not only by the club, but also for wider county level youth football.

Pathway beyond underage football

Long serving club volunteers have helped build a pathway where underage players can progress through local teams and, for some, into League of Ireland football and beyond.
