Drumcondra · Founded 1943 · Girls and boys
A north Dublin football institution
Stella Maris FC helps children and teenagers grow through community football at Dublin Port Stadium.
Club story
From 1943 to the modern club
Stella Maris FC was founded in Dublin’s north inner city in 1943 and became a founding member of the Dublin and District Schoolboys’ and Girls’ League. The club now supports more than 450 boys and girls from its early years programme through to under 18 football.
Its published approach puts opportunity, development and enjoyment ahead of short term results, with coaches and volunteers working to give every child a safe and supportive place to play.
Home ground
Dublin Port Stadium
The club is based at Dublin Port Stadium, Waterfall Avenue, Richmond Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 3, D03 A4W5. Dublin Port Company began its formal sponsorship in 2018, when the ground was renamed and investment supported its modernisation.
Player pathway
Football from early years to under 18
Stella Maris provides a long youth pathway for girls and boys. Families should ask which squad matches the player’s birth year, current experience and preferred level before attending.
Training times and available places can change during the season, so confirm the current arrangements directly with the club.
Player development
A respected football tradition
Dublin Port’s club feature links Stella Maris with Irish football figures including Johnny Giles, Eamon Dunphy, David O’Leary and Troy Parrott. It also highlights Keith Andrews, Áine O’Gorman and Noel King among people with strong Stella Maris connections.
For today’s young player, that history is best understood as a development culture: good coaching, regular football and room to improve over time.
