Schoolboy and schoolgirl football
Across South Tipperary
Local clubs, age-group competitions and representative squads share a place in the region’s youth football.
The association
A regional home for young footballers
South Tipperary Schoolboys/Girls League is known as TSSDL. Its official crest names the Tipperary Schoolboys/Girls Southern & District League, bringing the schoolboy and schoolgirl game together under its purple-and-yellow identity.
Keep that youth organisation distinct from the Tipperary Southern & District League’s adult competitions and from North Tipperary’s schoolchildren’s league. A club can have teams under more than one organiser, so use the team’s age group and named competition when following its football.
From first games onward
Different stages of the club journey
The league website separates its Future Soccer Stars programme from older age-group competitions. The programme includes younger boys’ and girls’ groups and blitz football, while the older sections use Premiership, Championship and Division One headings.
For a family, the local club is the starting point for joining, training and finding an appropriate group. Ask the club which team and programme apply to your child. League match pages help you follow that team once the club has confirmed the arrangements.
League and cup football
Follow the competition as well as the club
The TSSDL website organises tables by age group and pathway, with separate boys’ and girls’ sections. Its cup directory includes Tipperary Cup competitions and named memorial cups, including the under-16 Colin Flynn Memorial Cup and under-14 Paul Twomey Memorial Cup.
A team can appear in several competitions during its programme. Check the competition heading before comparing a table with a result, and confirm the date, kickoff and venue with the team before travelling. National cup ties can bring opponents from outside the local league.
Representative football
Wearing South Tipperary’s colours
South Tipperary took part in both the Kennedy and Gaynor Cups in 2026. Clonmel Celtic’s Kennedy Cup announcement confirmed club players in the league squad and a group containing Cork, Waterford and Longford.
At the 2026 Gaynor Cup, South Tipperary met eventual winners Cork in the last sixteen. These representative teams bring players together beyond their weekly club sides, with the league identity taking centre stage at national tournaments. Their tournament story is separate from the honours of any one club.
