Tramore Athletic’s own Clubforce profile records the club as founded in 1948. It says the club was formed after a split from Evergreen United, with founding members from Turners Cross, Douglas and Blackrock, and the Tramore name coming from the river that passes through those areas.
The same club profile describes Tramore Athletic as starting out as a schoolboy club before moving into wider Cork football. It records an early U14 league title in 1954, entry into the Cork Athletic Union League, FAI Youth Cup success in 1957-58, and later Munster Senior League football.
