Moone’s football roots
Moone Celtic was founded in 1989. Liam Doyle and Michael Dooley were among the founding members who helped establish the first grounds at Simonstown, Moone. The club initially competed in the Carlow League.
Move into Kildare football
The club history records a move to Kildare league football in August 2008, with senior teams in the Kildare and District Football League and youth teams in the Kildare and District Underage League. It identifies Fortfield Park, off the old Moone bypass, as its later playing base.
