Club history
Mungret AFC began in 1971 with a team in the Desmond League, initially using the Irish Cement Sports and Social Club ground. The county council provided the club with another pitch in 1972. A clubhouse site was bought in 1982 and the building opened in 1984. The club won the Premier League in 1988 and the Munster Junior Cup in 1994. It also reached the Munster Youths Cup final in 1992, the FAI Junior Cup final in 1996 and the Munster Junior Cup final in 1997. In 1997, land behind the clubhouse was converted into a floodlit training area. A nursery for younger children developed during the 1990s. Black and red are the recorded club colours, and the club address is Rathmale in Mungret.
