A major Munster community club
Aisling Annacotty AFC brings 1969 and 1971 roots, academy football, adult teams and extensive Limerick facilities into one pathway.
Aisling Annacotty identity
Aisling Annacotty AFC is an Annacotty, County Limerick football club formed in 1971 and now recognised as one of Munster’s largest community clubs. The red, yellow and black crest carries two important foundation marks: 1969 for Annacotty FC and 1971 for Aisling FC.
The club identity is rooted in Annacotty while also serving Monaleen, Castletroy and Lisnagry. With over 1100 juvenile and adult members, more than 150 volunteers and over 60 competitive teams, the club has the scale of a major local football hub.
From Regal United to the 1988 amalgamation
The Aisling story began with a small team connected to the Regal Public House in Cecil Street, Limerick. Regal United moved from friendly games into the Limerick District League in 1971, then became Aisling FC and rose through local football during the following decade.
Annacotty FC had started earlier in 1969 and also built its own Limerick League story. In 1988, Aisling FC and Annacotty FC came together to form Aisling Annacotty AFC, creating one larger club for schoolboy, schoolgirl, youth, junior and adult football in the growing Annacotty area.
Aisling Park and wider facilities
The club’s home pitch is in Annacotty, County Limerick. The main facility includes a grass pitch, a FIFA 2 Star full size all weather pitch, dressing rooms and a meeting room, giving teams a regular training and match base close to the communities the club serves.
The wider facilities picture also includes nearby Killonan, Newtown Park and the University of Limerick. That matters for families because a club with more than 60 teams needs several football spaces, and the assigned group should always confirm the exact meeting point before travelling.
Academy and player pathway
The football academy starts from five years of age and gives younger children a first structured route into the club. The wider pathway then moves through schoolboy and schoolgirl football, youth football, junior men, junior women and adult grades.
The team links show Aisling Annacotty activity at under 12, under 14, under 15 and under 16 for the 2026 to 2027 season, while the wider pathway runs from academy age into adult football.
Women, girls and community reach
Aisling Annacotty’s programme includes ladies, junior, men’s, schoolboy and schoolgirl grades. That range gives girls and boys visible places within the same club culture rather than treating one pathway as separate from the rest of the football family.
The community reach across Annacotty, Monaleen, Castletroy and Lisnagry is a major part of the club’s growth. The club’s stated values of encouragement, equality and participation fit the practical work of giving many local families a way into football.
Honours and recent standards
The honours picture stretches across junior, youth, schoolboy and schoolgirl football. Recent club honours include Junior A Team Tuohy Cup success, Premier League and Lawson Cup success, youth cup success, under 12, under 13, under 14, under 15 and under 16 titles, and girls cup and ladies league achievements.
That breadth is more important than one trophy. It shows that Aisling Annacotty has won across several age groups and grades, which gives players a strong performance culture while still keeping the club rooted in local participation.
Committee, football and academy contacts
The current leadership map gives families clear names for club queries. Jim Canny is chair, Ted Frost is vice chair, Joe Pond is secretary, Ken O Connor is treasurer, Derek Downes is club development officer and Aoife Brady is child welfare officer.
Football committee roles include Niall Brady as chair, Leonard Dolan as secretary, Derek McCarthy as director of football and Ray O’Halloran as academy head coach. A first enquiry can be aimed at the general club contact and then routed to the right football or welfare person.

Membership, welfare and guides
Membership guides cover juvenile, youth and adult categories, with family discounts and payment plans described for accessibility. The club also points families toward coaching courses, codes of conduct, equality and inclusion guidance, a handbook and child welfare information.
Those guides are useful for a new household because joining a large club involves more than turning up with boots. Parents need to know the right age group, the membership step, who is responsible for welfare, and which coach or committee contact can answer the first question.
First enquiry checklist
A first message to Aisling Annacotty should include the player name, year of birth, home area, football background and whether the enquiry is for the academy, boys football, girls football, youth football, junior football, adult football, membership, volunteering, facility booking or welfare.
Before attending, confirm the assigned team, coach contact, pitch location, arrival time, footwear, membership step and whether the meeting point is Aisling Park, Killonan, Newtown Park, the University of Limerick or another agreed club location.
