Avenue United was formed in Ennis on 12 April 1983 by people from Marian Avenue and Steele’s Terrace. The club won league and shield trophies in each of its first two seasons.

In 1990 Avenue reached the FAI Junior Cup final at Dalymount Park, finishing runners up to Cherry Orchard. Youth football expanded with the addition of schoolboy teams from 1996.

The club bought its grounds at Roslevan in 2012. Its official website carries team news, fixtures, membership and club contacts.
