Balbriggan FC in the community
Balbriggan FC links academy football, girls and boys teams, senior squads, school fixtures, community events and a busy football campus around Bath Road and Lambeecher estate.
Balbriggan FC in North Fingal
Balbriggan FC is a large community football club in Balbriggan, North County Dublin. The club brings children, girls, boys, women, men and volunteers into one football pathway based around Bath Road, Lambeecher estate and the Bremore all weather area.
The club identity is Football in Our Community. That phrase fits the scale of the operation: more than forty teams, academy football, school age football, senior teams, a senior ladies route, community events, coach education and shared local facilities.
Founded in 1998
Balbriggan FC was formed in 1998 when Clonard Celtic FC and Balscadden Blues FC amalgamated. The purpose was to give local players a single playing path from nursery football through to senior football within the same club.
The club colours are red shirts, green shorts and red socks. The crest carries Balbriggan landmarks and coastal colour cues, with viaduct arches, gulls, sea tones, a sun, a football and the Balbriggan FC name held together in one badge.

Clubhouse at Bath Road
Balbriggan FC operates from a purpose built clubhouse at Bath Road, behind Lambeecher estate. The clubhouse was completed in 2007 at a cost of €483,000 and sits beside the school age pitches, senior pitches and the newer 3G facility.
The building includes a well sized function room for meetings and classes, a smaller room for meetings, dressing rooms, equipment rooms and a referee changing room. That gives the club a practical centre for football, committee work, training groups and community activity.
Pitches around Lambeecher
Home football is played on Fingal County Council pitches beside the clubhouse in Lambeecher estate. The first pitch area is in front of the clubhouse and in the adjoining Tower field, where 7 a side and 9 a side matches take place.
The second pitch area is reached by the walkway at the side of the clubhouse, with another pitch just after the all weather facility. The 11 a side matches use those areas, and the clubhouse car park gives visiting families a clear arrival point.
| Facility | Football use |
|---|---|
| Pitch area one | In front of the clubhouse and in the Tower field, used for 7 a side and 9 a side football. |
| Pitch area two | Reached by the side walkway and used for 11 a side football. |
| Additional pitch | Positioned beyond the all weather area as part of the wider campus. |
| Parking | Clubhouse car park used as the main arrival point. |
St Molagas all weather facility
The St Molagas all weather facility opened at the beginning of 2015. The project was delivered and managed by Balbriggan FC, O Dwyers GAA club and Fingal County Council.
The facility measures 120 metres by 60 metres and holds a full size GAA and soccer pitch on a 3G playing surface. Portable soccer and GAA goals are available, and the pitch can be rented as a quarter pitch, half pitch or full pitch.
Access is through the tunnel beside the clubhouse, with parking at the clubhouse and a fully lit walkway to the all weather area. Users are asked to avoid metal studs, flat shoes, jewellery, food, chewing gum, glass containers and animals other than guide dogs.
Academy for ages 4 to 7
Balbriggan FC runs the Sharp Shooters Academy for girls and boys aged 4 to 7. The academy starts at 9:45am on Sundays at the Bremore all weather pitch and introduces children to football through fun games and qualified coaching.
New players can try a first session before registering. The academy route includes an annual registration and kit fee, ongoing monthly subs and an official academy kit, with players progressing to under 8 teams when they are ready.
Youth and senior pathway
The club has more than thirty youth teams for boys and girls from under 8 to under 19, with the majority playing in the Dublin District Schoolboys and Girls League. Balbriggan teams also connect with NDSL, MGL, LSL and adult women’s football routes.
The adult pathway includes two senior men’s teams in the Leinster Senior League and a senior ladies team. That gives the club a route from early academy football into teenage squads and adult football without losing the Balbriggan identity.
| Stage | Balbriggan pathway |
|---|---|
| Academy | Ages 4 to 7 at the Bremore all weather pitch. |
| Youth teams | More than thirty teams across under 8 to under 19 football. |
| School age leagues | DDSL, NDSL and MGL routes across boys and girls football. |
