Blue crest, astro home and village football

Ballinahown FC brings school age, girls and adult community soccer around St Colmcille Sports Park near the Westmeath and Offaly border.

Ballinahown FC identity

Ballinahown FC uses a royal blue crest with a shield, river, bridge, church, green landscape marks and a curved banner reading Ballinahown F.C.

The crest connects the club to the village setting as much as to football. The river and church make the badge local, while the blue banner gives the page and kit identity a clear colour anchor.

St Colmcille Sports Park

The club is tied to St Colmcille Sports Park in Ballinahown, a community sports setting close to the county border. The sports park story matters because it gives players a modern local base rather than only a named village on a map.

The development includes a 40 x 70 metre fully lit astroturf pitch, a hurling wall, warm up area, viewing area and booking facilities for local users. The wider sports park also includes playing fields, buildings and a fully lit walking track.

Nursery and younger players

Recent club notices welcome the youngest players through a nursery group for boys and girls aged 4 to 6, with under 8 boys and girls also organised in separate groups.

For a first visit, parents should confirm the current night, start time, footwear, registration step and whether the player should join nursery, under 8 or an older group. The generic club email used for junior enquiries is ballinahownfc@gmail.com.

Girls football milestones

Ballinahown girls teams have produced several strong pathway markers. The under 14 girls became the first team in the club’s history to reach the last 16 of the SFAI National Trophy in 2024.

The girls pathway also includes a Midland Shield under 13 final win in 2025 and a Midlands Cup under 12 final win in 2026. Those milestones show progression across school age girls football rather than one isolated squad moment.

Whole club fundraiser

In 2025 the club organised a 1,000 minute soccer match at the Ballinahown astroturf. The day brought underage players, parents, coaches, senior players and former players together around one club effort.

The fundraiser raised more than €35,000, with the club using the event to support running costs such as equipment, pitch and clubhouse maintenance and astroturf expenses. More than 200 goals were scored across the day.

Football pathway

Ballinahown FC reads as a village club with a broad pathway: nursery, school age boys and girls, girls cup activity, senior players, coaches, parents and past players all appear around the current club story.

For players, that means the first question should be about the right age group and current squad. For families, it means the club has routes into football from early years through competitive school age teams.

Planning a visit

Visitors should confirm whether the session is on the astroturf, a grass area or another Sports Park space. Ask for the pitch entrance, meeting point, arrival time, parking, changing arrangements and home contact before travelling.

Because the sports park serves more than one community activity, the exact pitch and time matter. Visiting teams should also confirm kit colours, warm up space and any local parking advice.

Best first message

A useful first message should say whether the enquiry is for nursery football, under 8, girls football, a school age squad, senior football, coaching, volunteering, sponsorship or a visiting team.

Include the player age, school year, previous football experience, preferred contact number, availability and whether the question is about training, matches, registration or helping around the club.

Ballinahown FC is a village football club in County Westmeath, using St Colmcille Sports Park and a royal blue local crest, with nursery and school age entry points, girls cup milestones and a major 2025 whole club fundraising event.
