Club story
A young club building a home in Ballivor
Ballivor FC was formed in 2016 with a single youth team. ClubSpot’s account of the club’s growth says that first group developed into six teams and more than 70 members by 2025. An older club social profile describes teams from U8 through to senior level. Those sources show rapid growth, but they do not give one consistent current total, so this page does not guess how many squads Ballivor fields now.
The first team in 2016 was an U10 side. The Meath Chronicle’s account of the home-pitch campaign explains that the club initially staged home games at the MDL in Navan. It moved matches to Delvin in 2020 because the Westmeath venue was closer to Ballivor.
The same report records the club’s long search for land near the village. A lease was close to completion in 2023, and fundraising was directed towards a Ballivor pitch. The club’s official link page now identifies a €65,000 funding award for home-ground development. A later community-sport grant allocation provided €65,404 for site clearance and laying a soccer pitch. Club updates call the site at Sands Lane the home pitch, but public competition records still connect Ballivor matches with Delvin. Visiting teams should use the venue named on their own fixture message.
Irish Youth Football currently connects nine published boys-coded records for 2026–27: three at U13, three at U15 and three at U16. Repeated club-and-age labels may represent competition entries rather than nine separately named squads. There are no linked records for U8–U12, U14 or U17, and no girls’ or adult team card. Delvin Sports and Leisure Centre is in Balrath South, outside Delvin. A Westmeath Community Development account confirms a sports pitch, upgraded walking track and ten-station outdoor gym, including two stations suitable for wheelchair users. It does not confirm that every football booking includes open changing rooms, toilets, refreshments or a step-free route from parking to the assigned touchline.
Check the competition notice before travel because Sands Lane and Delvin are separate locations. For a Delvin match, confirm the entrance, kick-off time, surface, footwear, parking and which facilities will be open. For a Sands Lane match, ask the club for the current access point and site arrangements; the development history alone is not proof that every team has transferred there.
