Ballyboro FC brings together footballers from Lanesboro, Ballyleague and the surrounding area. Founded in 2000, the club has developed youth football, adult competition and community playing facilities at Lanesboro Community College.

Building Ballyboro
The FAI’s 2022 profile describes a catchment extending to Rathcline and Newtowncashel. It records investment in coach education and the involvement of Ukrainian children in training.
The club’s opening day booklet, described in the October 2022 local notes, included first chairman Pat Hussey’s account of its formation. It also recalled the under tens’ visit to the Solar Cup in Stoke in 2009 and players who represented the Longford League at the Kennedy Cup.
Recognition and player progress
The FAI award announcement also recognised Christian Donlon-Goncalves as the first player involved with Ballyboro to earn an Ireland cap, at under fifteen level.
In March 2026, the Combined Counties League recorded Ballyboro as under seventeen Sunday champions. A complete record of league and cup honours has not been confirmed.
Young players, schools and adult football
Ballyboro’s recent club notices cover under nine training and girls’ under twelve registration. The FAI records its links with the Longford and District Schoolboys/Schoolgirls League; adult football expanded into the Roscommon and District League in 2025.
The club also works with Lanesboro Community College on football tournaments for local primary schools. Twelve schools took part in the December 2023 event, with students helping to referee and organise the games.

Black shirts and a gold crest
The club clothing collection shows black shirts with white details. The gold shield carries a white swan, the names Ballyleague and Lanesboro, and 2000. The shop’s ordering window was closed when checked; ask the club about the next kit order.
Visiting the college grounds

The pitch contractor’s project record describes a 2,500 square metre 3G pitch with fencing and lighting, plus a grass pitch with improved drainage. The astro facility’s own page identifies its home at the community college.
Confirm the grass or artificial pitch with your host. Ask about the entrance, parking, toilets, changing facilities and accessible entry before travelling. Pitch hire should be agreed with the facility.
