Blackstone Rovers

Blackstone Rovers connects a 1999 northside foundation with Fairfield, blue and white identity, recent cup success and a growing route for boys, girls and adult players.

Blackstone Rovers identity

Blackstone Rovers is a Cork city football club founded in 1999 and based at Fairfield on the northside. Its blue and white identity and quartered BRFC crest connect the club with a local pitch that serves footballers and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The club brings together schoolboy and adult football, girls’ coaching and a growing women’s pathway. That mix gives local players several ways to enter, develop and stay involved.

Fairfield home ground

Fairfield is Blackstone Rovers’ home playing field on Cork city’s northside. The public green space is shared by local residents and footballers, so match day visitors should keep paths clear and follow directions from club volunteers.

Confirm the assigned pitch, kick off time, meeting point and current access arrangements before travelling. Lighting and enclosure works have been planned for the wider park, so conditions can change.

Built around the local pitch

Blackstone Rovers began in 1999 and marked its 25 year celebrations in 2025. Founding member Ivan Bevan described the importance of working with children and young adults at Fairfield, where volunteers help maintain a playing space used beyond match days.

The club’s history is closely tied to the neighbourhood. A strong home pitch, regular coaching and shared volunteer work keep the football pathway visible for local families.

Cup and schoolboy success

Blackstone Rovers’ senior side won the City Challenge Cup at St Colman’s Park in April 2025. The club also recorded a second successive under 13 boys’ league title in May 2025, giving the senior and youth sections recent milestones to share.

Those achievements show the value of steady player development. The club can celebrate senior competition while helping younger teams build confidence and learn good football habits.

Boys, girls and adult pathways

Established schoolboy and men’s teams form the base of the club, while girls’ coaching has expanded and a first senior women’s team has opened a new route for older players. The club has also planned an under 11 and under 12 girls’ team in the Cork women’s schoolboy and schoolgirl setting.

Parents should ask which age groups are accepting players for the current season. A first enquiry should include the player’s year of birth, experience and preferred type of football.

Coaching and community roles

Blackstone Rovers depends on coaches, team mentors, committee members, referees, pitch helpers and parents. The same people often support more than one age group, which helps the club keep its local character while its pathway grows.

Anyone working with children should follow the club’s safeguarding process and complete the required checks and training. Volunteers can ask about coaching, administration, fundraising or match day support.

First visit guide

Before a first session, confirm the player’s team, training time, equipment, pitch and meeting point. Fairfield is shared public space, so ask where to park and how the group will gather. Bring water, suitable footwear and weather appropriate clothing.

The club’s blue and white colours are the clearest visual guide, but kit requirements can vary by squad. A coach can explain registration and any current places before the player attends regularly.
