A parish club with a permanent football home

Bohermeen Celtic’s current official platform gives 1989 as the founding year. The public history page carries no longer account, so this profile does not invent early chairmen, first opponents or season-by-season achievements. Local reporting does record that a teenage group, including Derek Brady and his friends, formed a team to meet Headfort Grove from Kells. Paddy Ball, remembered through the club’s memorial cup, was among its early managers.

For many years the club had no permanent home. That changed when it secured land beside the school and church in Bohermeen in 2017. Coverage of the 2018 sod-turning described plans for full-size, U8 and U12 pitches, a clubhouse and associated works for a club then serving about 150 children.

The finished grounds were officially opened in September 2023 as Derek Brady Park. The opening-day report confirms that six acres bought in 2017 had become two soccer pitches and supporting facilities. The park honours Derek Brady, who died aged 22 in 1996, and the ceremony included his family, club teams, the FAI president and local representatives.

The club chairman’s account before the opening put membership at about 300 and recorded a new FAI Football for All programme. That is a dated 2023 snapshot rather than a claim about today’s exact membership. The current club site shows boys’, girls’, youth and senior football continuing from the park.

Irish Youth Football currently connects 19 published team records for 2026–27. Four are U12, five U13, three U15 and three U16; four have no age label. Six records are girls-coded, twelve are boys-coded and one U12 record has no pathway label. Repeated club-and-age names may be separate competition entries rather than nineteen uniquely named squads.

This is incomplete team coverage. There is no linked U14 record even though recent club results include U14 football. Younger mini-soccer ages, U17, the senior men and Football for All are also absent. The records should be read as the teams connected to IYF, not as a full list of everyone registered with Bohermeen Celtic.

The IYF fixture view has no upcoming match at present. Its results view returns 50 saved results and reports more beyond the first batch. The club’s own results page covers boys, girls, youth and senior matches, while the NERL profile confirms participation in the regional underage structure. The NEFL directory provides the adult-league connection.

The official platform includes an honours page but currently publishes no detailed roll there. One properly supported recent honour is the 2025 Paddy Ball Cup: Bohermeen Celtic’s senior men retained the cup by beating OMP 3–1. The club’s September 2026 news also records youth boys’ and girls’ semi-final progress, but a place in a final is not being counted as a trophy.

The home jersey is green and white, with green shorts and green socks, according to the regional league kit listing. That same league record supplies the badge shown on IYF. A reliable away-strip description was not found, so visiting teams should confirm colour arrangements before the match.

Derek Brady Park is an active match venue: current NERL fixtures and the club’s own match posts name it. The published development record confirms two pitches and supporting facilities. Later funding included €70,806 for playing-ground development, and a 2024 allocation of €113,065 was titled as an inclusive and sustainable community-facility project.

Those awards do not prove that every planned building, toilet, changing room or accessibility improvement is open for every booking. Meath Local Sports Partnership lists club contact details. Ask the team for the entrance, pitch, surface, parking position, changing access, toilets, refreshments and step-free route before travel. Arrive from the direction supplied by the club rather than relying on the older MDL directory address.
