Brideview United AFC
Brideview United brings a 1972 Tallow foundation, Leonard Fraser Park and a broad blue and white pathway from academy football into adult teams.
Brideview United identity
Brideview United AFC was founded in Tallow in 1972 and has grown into a club for junior, youth, academy and adult football. Blue and white colours connect its teams across west Waterford and the neighbouring Cork area.
The club welcomes boys, girls and adults through a local pathway. Ask about the current age group, places and the right programme for the player before registering.
Leonard Fraser Park
Leonard Fraser Park at Woodview Park is named for founder member Leonard Fraser and is the club’s home in Tallow. The ground and clubhouse were developed through strong community effort and provide a clear base for training and matches.
Confirm the entrance, pitch, parking, changing arrangements and surface with the team contact before travelling.
A club built in Tallow
Founding members including Leonard Fraser, Patrick Coughlan, Desmond McCarthy, Joe Tobin, Tony Coughlan, Maurice Tobin and John Russell established Brideview United in 1972. The club’s history is closely tied to the town and its volunteers.
That local foundation continues through coaches, parents, committee members and players who keep football available for new generations.
From academy to adult teams
Brideview teams begin with young academy groups and extend through underage football to adult sections. Boys and girls can build confidence through regular coaching before moving into more competitive age groups.
Team places and training times change between seasons. Include the player’s year of birth and previous experience in a first enquiry so the club can direct the family to the right coach.
A landmark Cork County Cup win
Brideview United won the Cork County Cup in 1982 after defeating Mallow, becoming the first club from outside Cork to lift the trophy. The achievement remains a distinctive part of the club’s story.
The honour reflects the ambition of a small community club and gives younger members a memorable link to the teams that represented Tallow before them.

Community football and volunteering
Brideview United is an active service in the Tallow community. Coaches, mentors, committee members, grounds helpers and parents make it possible to run teams from academy level through adult football.
Families can help by arriving on time, following collection arrangements and raising access or safeguarding questions before the first session. Respect for teammates, opponents and volunteers is central to the club experience.
Joining and first visit guide
For a first enquiry, include the player’s name, year of birth, experience and whether the interest is boys, girls, women’s or men’s football. Ask about available places, the next session, registration, fees, pitch allocation and access needs.
