A bigger football home for North Tipperary
The pitch project developed over several years. A March 2025 report explains that additional land was needed beside Michael Fennell Park before a second full-size pitch could be built. Frequent match cancellations helped shape the decision to choose an artificial surface.
Work began in March 2025. By the time of the September opening report, the new pitch was in use and the official celebration had brought players, volunteers, local supporters and former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Packie Bonner to the ground. The report also describes arrangements for local schools to use the facility.
The club’s subsequent thank-you message confirms that the full-size pitch had opened, while identifying dugouts and other improvements as the next fundraising goals. The project gives the club another setting for training and matches without confusing future work with facilities already delivered.
