Bunclody AFC
Bunclody AFC connects a 1969 foundation with a major Church Road complex and a red and white pathway from academy football into men’s and women’s teams.
Bunclody AFC identity
Bunclody AFC was founded in 1969 by members of the local youth club and has grown into a large community club on the Wexford and Carlow border. Red and white colours connect the academy, underage and adult sections.
The club provides football for boys, girls, men and women, giving players a route from their first session into long term participation.
Church Road football complex
Bunclody’s Church Road complex was developed from 2000 and includes four full size pitches, an underage pitch, an indoor seven a side artificial pitch and a clubhouse with changing rooms, referee facilities, meeting space, kitchen and reception.
Confirm the entrance, assigned pitch, parking and changing arrangements before travelling, because different age groups can use different parts of the complex.
From The Meadows to a regional hub
The club’s first competitive game was played at The Meadows before it moved to Carrigduff and later developed the Church Road home. Local backing and sports grants helped turn the site into one of the strongest football facilities in the area.
The complex has also been used for coach education and regional development activity, giving local players a connection to wider football programmes.
Academy, boys and girls pathways
Bunclody supports an academy for young children and teams across boys’ and girls’ age groups. The club describes an environment where players can learn fundamentals, enjoy football and progress through organised coaching.
Age groups and places change between seasons. Include the player’s year of birth in a first enquiry so the club can direct the family to the right coach and registration step.
Men’s and women’s football
The adult pathway includes two senior men’s teams and a senior women’s team. Older players can continue playing locally, support younger groups and stay involved in the community around Church Road.
Returning players should share their experience and preferred level so the club can explain the current squad, session times and equipment needed.
Selected honours and milestones
Bunclody’s under 18 boys won the Leinster Provincial Youth Cup in 1995. The senior men later won the Neil O’Sullivan Cup in successive seasons, 2015 and 2016, adding important chapters to the club’s long record of league and cup success.
These milestones sit alongside everyday coaching and participation. A player’s progress is measured through learning, teamwork and enjoyment as well as trophies.

Joining and first visit guide
For a first enquiry, include the player’s name, year of birth, experience and whether the interest is academy, boys, girls, women’s or men’s football. Ask about places, the next session, registration, fees, pitch allocation and access needs.
Church Road is the club’s Bunclody base. Arrive early so the player can meet the coach and settle before activity begins, and confirm which pitch or entrance applies to the session.
