2025 FAI women’s U17 champions
Callan beat holders Athenry 2–0 on 28 June 2025 to win the FAI Women’s Under-17 Cup. Chloe Tennyson scored both first-half goals in the club’s first national final. Their route included victories over All Blacks, Gorey Rangers, Carrigtwohill United and Kilnamanagh. FAI final report.

McCalmont Cup tradition
Callan’s 2018/19 anniversary yearbook lists McCalmont Cup titles in 1971, 1972 and 2012. That record connects the early red-and-black teams with later generations at the Fairgreen. Club anniversary yearbook.
Club story
Early cup teams, then a lasting club
Callan’s roots include teams entering the McCalmont Cup between 1959 and 1961, before emigration interrupted organised soccer locally. The anniversary history identifies 1968, when a new youth club formed, as the start of the lasting organised-league era.
The club became a company in 2017 to support its development. Its 2018/19 yearbook records a 100-year Fairgreen lease from Kilkenny County Council and looks back on a place among the eight shortlisted clubs in the 2015 FAI Club of the Year awards. Read the club’s account of its development.
