Two football traditions, one Cappoquin club
Cappoquin Railway FC was formed in 2018 when Railway Athletic and Cappoquin FC joined together. Based at Danes Field, the club serves the town and surrounding communities, with boys’ and girls’ football and facilities for both matches and training. Girls’ honours
Under-16B league champions
Cappoquin Railway’s under-16 girls secured the Waterford Women’s and Schoolgirls’ League U16B title in 2025. The league announced the championship in June, with the club congratulating its players and management on the season. League title announcement

Ronan Mansfield’s next steps
Ronan Mansfield moved from Cappoquin Railway schoolboy football to Waterford’s under-14 side in 2018. He progressed through the academy, made his first-team debut in 2023 and joined Fleetwood Town on loan in August 2024. Waterford’s account of his development
Club story
Building on Railway Athletic and Cappoquin FC
The 2018 amalgamation brought two local clubs together to strengthen football provision for Cappoquin and neighbouring townlands. Danes Field became the shared home, bringing grass match pitches and an astro training area into the same club setting. The club’s formation
Community support remains part of that story. In June 2026, the club organised a 24-hour Soccerthon and family fun day, with underage games, adult five-a-side football and a closing parents-versus-coaches match.
