Carrick United’s football roots in Carrick-on-Suir date to 1968. The club competes in Waterford football and is based at Tom Drohan Park, Coolnamuck. Its story includes a national junior cup triumph, years of league success and boys’ and girls’ football. The 2008 FAI Junior Cup victory remains a landmark.

Carrick United 2–1 Killester United
Carrick came from behind against the holders at the Waterford RSC. An own goal brought the sides level before substitute Alan Ryan converted a penalty in added time. Captain Wayne Fitzgerald lifted the trophy for Liam Wells’s side. Read the final report.
Youth football
Success through the age groups
Boys’ under-12 and under-13 sides appear in the 2024/25 local competition record. The under-18 girls clinched their league title with a 2–1 win against Mooncoin Celtic, reported on 1 June 2025. League history
Nine titles in twelve years
By May 2011 Carrick had secured a ninth Waterford Premier League title in twelve years, beating Villa at Tom Drohan Park. They then defeated Cork City away in the Munster Senior Cup semi-final. The result sent Carrick into the final against Limerick. Read the semi-final report.

A club built around Carrick football
Founded in 1968, Carrick United had already established itself in Waterford football before the 2008 national final. Tom Drohan Park provided the home base for the side and the volunteers behind it.
