A cup history reaching back to the Meath league
The North East Football League’s historical account records Cloghertown United reaching the Leinster Junior Shield semi final in the 2001/02 season. St Kevin’s Boys were the opposition, and the tie took place at the MDL grounds in Navan. The league notes that this was the first occasion on which that semi final was staged outside Dublin.
That run gives the club a documented place in the older Meath and District League era. The later Joe Tynan Cup campaign belongs to its Leinster Senior League record. These are separate competitions and separate generations of Cloghertown football; neither semi final is presented as a trophy win.
