Club story

Cup wins across several league eras

The club history records a six competition haul in 1973/74, including the Cavan/Monaghan League, League Cup, Top 4, Steadfast Cup, Drifter Cup and Coffey Cup. Louth and District League titles followed in 1977 and 1979.

Clones won the 1980/81 Ulster Cup against Quigley’s Point Swifts after a replay and penalties, then reached the FAI Junior Cup quarter finals in 1982. In 1984 it hosted the first James Reavey memorial competition and beat Coolock Celtic in the final.

The move into the Longford league brought a title in 1984/85 and further league successes. The historical account also records a 1991 treble in the Meath and Louth era and a Cavan/Monaghan League win in 1991/92. These dated achievements form part of the club’s own published record.
