Cockhill Celtic FC official crest

From Westbrook Celtic to national cup winners

Cockhill Celtic grew from informal football in Buncrana into a club with youth, women’s and men’s activity. Its honours include the 2024 FAI Junior Cup and eleven Ulster Senior League titles. In 2026, Cockhill is listed among the clubs in the new FAI National League, adding another stage to its football history.

Youth football

Boys’ and girls’ activity

Cockhill’s 2026 camp listings include a three day programme for under 12 girls and another for boys and girls aged nine and ten. Registration for those camps is closed. Ask the club for current season teams, academy places and training times; a summer camp booking is separate from joining a league team.

Membership

2026/27 adult registration

The live Klubfunder page covers July 2026 to June 2027. It lists men’s adult registration at €150 and men’s student registration at €100. Women’s adult registration is €100, with a €60 student option. Youth fees are not displayed in that current table; ask the club for the appropriate youth registration route and any separate training costs.

Teams and competitions

National and local football

The FAI National League profile confirms Cockhill’s place in the 2026 competition. Meanwhile, the Inishowen league’s September 2026 fixtures list Cockhill Youths, Reserves and Colts in local adult divisions. Those team names identify separate league sides; ask the club for the schoolboy or schoolgirl group appropriate to a young player.

Club identity

Green and white hoops

The Inishowen directory lists green and white hooped shirts, white shorts and green and white socks for the Youths and Reserves, with grey as the alternative. The club badge shown here comes from Cockhill’s own registration service. Confirm any team specific kit requirements before ordering.

Club story

A local football club with a national cup record

The club history dates its first meeting as Westbrook Celtic to 28 October 1970. Early football at Swan’s Park and Coneyburrow preceded the move to Cockhill. Packie Bonner opened Celtic Park in July 1987. The football and youth clubs joined in 1989, and the old national school became the club headquarters.

The later St Mary’s Park development opened in 2003, followed by an astro facility in 2008. The Charlie O’Donnell name commemorates the founder member and long serving chairman who died in 2007. These developments expanded the club’s playing and training provision.

Cockhill’s national cup record includes a 2011 EA Sports Cup victory over Galway United, with Paul McKinley scoring twice after William O’Connor’s equaliser. The club accumulated eleven Ulster Senior League titles before its 2024 FAI Junior Cup win. That final against Gorey Rangers finished 1–1, with Cockhill winning the shootout 3–1 at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The same 2024 campaign brought a 7–1 FAI Senior Cup win over Ayrfield United before a trip to Waterford. The 2026 National League entry adds to that history. Families visiting for youth football should still confirm their specific pitch: the club has more than one named playing area in Cockhill.
