Brookfield football for Donegal Town
Founded in 1990, Drumbar United brings Little Kickers, youth teams and adult football together at Brookfield on the edge of Donegal Town.
Brookfield football since 1990
Drumbar United F.C. was founded in 1990 to serve the football needs of the Donegal Town area. The club is based at Brookfield on the south eastern edge of Donegal Town, with the ground address given as Brookfield, Donegal Town, F94 PH92.
The club first focused on boys underage football, then added a senior men group that entered Donegal League football in 1993. Since then Drumbar has grown into a full grassroots club with boys, girls, women and men all using the same club pathway.
Finding Brookfield
Brookfield is the main Drumbar United base in Donegal Town. Families travelling for a first visit should confirm the correct pitch, session time and team contact before setting out, especially where multiple age groups are active on the same evening.
General enquiries can be sent to drumbarunited@gmail.com. Parents contacting the club should include the player name, year of birth, preferred age group and whether the player is new to football or moving from another club.
Little Kickers to adult football
Drumbar offers football from Little Kickers for children aged four and over through to adult level. The pathway runs across girls, boys, women and men, with 20 teams in total.
That breadth is a major strength for a Donegal Town club. A child can start in Little Kickers, move through U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16 football, and still see senior men and senior ladies groups as the adult end of the same club structure.
Boys and men groups
The Spring and Summer 2026 boys and men route includes Senior Men, U16 Boys, U14 Boys, U12 Boys, U10 Boys, U8 Boys and Little Kickers. Coaches across those groups include Ciarán Nixon, Kevin Martin, David Charles, Paul O’Donovan, Shane Browne, Mick Slator, Brian Ward, Michael Cannon, Chris McNulty, Aiden Cassidy, Jonathan Mulhern and Enda Brogan.
Training windows include U16 Boys on Tuesday evenings, U14 Boys and U12 Boys on Wednesday evenings, U10 Boys on Tuesday evenings, U8 Boys on Thursday evenings and Little Kickers on Sunday mornings. Senior Men sit at the adult end of the boys and men pathway.
Girls and women groups
The girls and women route includes Senior Ladies, U16 Girls, U14 Girls, U12 Girls, U10 Girls, U8 Girls and Little Kickers. Coaches across those groups include Kevin Martin, Emma Cuddy, Anthony McAnaw, Gary Spencer and Enda Brogan.
Senior Ladies train on Thursday evenings. U12 Girls and U10 Girls have Friday evening and Sunday afternoon windows, U8 Girls have a Friday evening window, and Little Kickers share the Sunday morning slot. U16 Girls and U14 Girls should be confirmed before attending because their current arrangement can change during the season.
Facilities at Brookfield
Drumbar is based at Brookfield on the Donegal Town side of the club catchment. Continued investment has helped develop three high quality playing pitches to support growing player numbers.
That facility base gives the club room to support a large youth programme, adult teams, coaching activity and visiting teams. It also gives families a consistent football home rather than a changing set of temporary venues.
FAI Two Star Club Mark
Drumbar attained the FAI Club Mark Two Star Award in October 2025. That award recognises strong grassroots club management, governance, community engagement, coaching standards, a youth to senior player pathway and a diverse team structure.
For parents, the award is useful because it signals that the club has put time into how it is organised, how volunteers support the programme and how the player pathway is managed across a large number of teams.
Governance and volunteer base
The club is supported by voluntary coaches, parents, committee members and supporters. It also has an Executive Committee structure for 2026, with club representatives contactable through drumbarunited@gmail.com or the club contact form.
The wider Donegal Town community is part of the club story as well. The player and family base draws from more than six national and secondary schools, showing how broad the club reach has become around Brookfield.
Community activity and events
Drumbar’s club activity extends beyond weekly team sessions. The club promotes tournaments and events including the South Donegal Mini World Cup, Football Cup Barcelona activity and the Foyle Cup, alongside regular club news and fundraising activity.
Those events help connect younger players, families and volunteers to the wider club. They also make Drumbar more than a match day name, because the club gives the Donegal Town area a visible grassroots football gathering point.
First enquiry checklist
A first enquiry should state the player year of birth, school year, preferred age group and whether the enquiry is for boys, girls, senior men, senior ladies or Little Kickers. Families should also ask for the current coach contact and the correct Brookfield arrival point.
Parents should confirm registration steps, training gear, session time, parking arrangements and any safeguarding or communication requirements before the first visit. For general contact, use drumbarunited@gmail.com.
