Caherlistrane · County Galway
Soccer beneath Knockma Hill
St Patrick’s Football Club has represented the Caherlistrane area since 1992, connecting older youth teams with adult community football in north County Galway.
Club story
Established in Caherlistrane in 1992
St Patrick’s F.C. was established in 1992 and represents Caherlistrane in the Galway football community. The exact location is important because several Irish clubs carry the same saint’s name.
The blue and yellow shield provides a second strong identifier. It carries an Irish harp, three shamrocks and the split foundation year around the club initials. The wording and symbols belong to this Caherlistrane club and should not be replaced with the crest of another St Patrick’s.
The club is volunteer run and openly invites support from players, coaches, committee members and sponsors. Its public material also describes an ambition to grow the number of teams and work toward a permanent home of its own.
Current football pathway
Older youth teams and the adult side
The official club site lists under 15 and under 18 teams alongside an adult junior team. That gives older youth players a visible route toward adult community football without claiming that every younger age group is currently operating.
The team range can change as player numbers, volunteers and facilities develop. A parent should therefore use the player’s birth year and ask which current squad is appropriate. Adult players should include their recent standard, preferred position and availability.
Building the club
Players, coaches and a future home
For a growing rural club, adding a team requires more than player interest. It also depends on suitable coaching, administration, safeguarding and access to a pitch. The club’s invitation to volunteers and committee support is therefore part of the football plan, not a separate background issue.
The current use of a shared ground allows the programme to operate while the club pursues a permanent base. Any future development should be confirmed through official club updates rather than treated as complete before it happens.
Home football
Sylane Hurling and Camogie Club Grounds
St Patrick’s identifies its current home pitch at Sylane Hurling and Camogie Club Grounds, Eircode H54 AD91. This is a shared venue, so use does not imply that the soccer club owns the site.
Visiting teams should confirm the correct entrance, parking area, pitch and dressing arrangements with the team contact. Allow time for local roads and for other activity at a shared ground. The newest fixture notice controls the kickoff and venue.
