Club story
Started for players in Killarney
Killarney Celtic was founded in 1976 by Mike Daly and Billy Healy, two Killarney locals who wanted players in the town to have steady soccer.
The club’s own history places the first competitive game on 24 October 1976. Celtic went through its opening league season unbeaten, moved up from Division 3, then won promotion again and reached Kerry’s top flight.
The site record uses Killarney Celtic as the public name, while the club’s channels style the side as Killarney Celtic FC. It is a separate club from Killarney Athletic AFC, with its own home at Celtic Park in Derreen.

Player pathway
From soccer tots to senior level
The club history describes one of Kerry’s largest underage sections, with players starting from soccer tots and continuing through to senior football.
The live club site carries membership, fixtures and results, and recent match listings show boys, girls, youth, senior men, senior women and National League activity. Families should use the club website, ClubZap, Facebook, Instagram or X for the current registration route.
For a new player, send the year of birth, experience, preferred route and contact details so the club can point the family toward the right group.
Senior and women’s football
A strong Kerry League presence
Killarney Celtic is part of the Kerry District League setting at adult level and has a long senior presence in the county game.
The club’s honours page shows recent Senior A men’s Kerry District League Premier titles and cup wins, while the women’s section has recent Kerry District League Premier and House of Upholstery Cup success.
The girls’ route is visible through current underage results and honours, including U17 women’s league and cup wins and WU17 cup success.
National League link
A club now visible beyond Kerry
The Football Association of Ireland carries Killarney Celtic as a National League club, with official website and shop links attached to the club profile.
The club’s own fixture and result feed also lists National League Group 3 games at Celtic Park. That gives local players and families another sign of the pathway beyond the county leagues.
Selected honours
Named milestones from the roll of honour
The official roll of honour is deep, so this profile keeps to selected named milestones rather than turning every result into a title.
