Faithlegg club identity

Park Rangers AFC was founded in 1978 and is based in Faithlegg and Cheekpoint on the eastern side of Waterford city. The club serves the Barony of Gaultier and the south side of the city, giving families around Faithlegg, Cheekpoint and nearby Waterford communities a broad local football base.

Older club material describes strong growth by June 2015, with twenty two teams, forty eight coaches, a coaches forum and planned pitch development. The current membership channel continues to present Park Rangers as a club for junior, women’s, schoolboys, schoolgirls, Football For All and academy football.

The Glen match visit

The Glen is the match and training address for Park Rangers. The published club address is The Glen, Faithlegg, Waterford, X91 AEP2, with the ground positioned close to Faithlegg village and the Cheekpoint road network.

Visiting teams coming from Waterford city usually travel past University Hospital Waterford, turn left before the Applegreen at Faithlegg, pass under the bridge near Jack Meade’s, continue through Faithlegg village and watch for the Park Rangers signs after the church.

Facilities for training and visits

Park Rangers has a practical football base at The Glen. Club information describes a clubhouse, one level playing field, a training pitch and a floodlit astroturf pitch, with pitch development also part of the club’s facilities story.

Families and visiting teams should confirm which surface is being used before travel. The club also handles astroturf and party rental enquiries through its chair contact, so The Glen works as both a football venue and a community facility.

Player pathway

The club pathway stretches from mixed academy football for four to six year olds through schoolboys, schoolgirls, junior and women’s teams. Recent Park Rangers fixtures and match media show activity at under 13, under 15, under 17, women’s first team and ladies senior levels.

The progression policy gives the pathway a clear football purpose: every member should have a safe, fun and supportive route to reach their potential. Parents can therefore ask about the best age group, coach contact and next training step rather than guessing where a child should start.

Inclusion and Football For All

Inclusion is a defining part of the Park Rangers story. The club’s Football For All and earlier Soccer for All activity create a football place for players with sensory, intellectual and physical needs.

A Waterford FC community event at The Glen in 2019 celebrated wider inclusion for people with disabilities in football. That gives the club a stronger identity than a normal team list because it places welcome, participation and belonging at the centre of the football experience.

Waterford pathway and local role

Park Rangers sits inside the wider Waterford football picture, with teams meeting clubs across the county and city. The club also gives young players a local route from academy and school age football into adult football.

Former Park Rangers youth player Orion Cala signed a first professional contract with Waterford FC in August 2026, adding a recent pathway example for young players at the club. It is a useful reminder that community football can sit beside ambition while still serving beginners and returning players.
