Community club identity

Parkville FC is a Limerick football club serving the Corbally, Meelick and Parteen communities. The club was founded in 1988 and has grown around youth development, local volunteers and steady player pathways across boys, girls, youth and junior football.

The club presents itself as a welcoming place for players of all abilities, with teamwork, discipline, fair play and personal growth sitting beside league and cup ambitions. Its current football base is Knockalisheen, while early stage activity also uses St Mary’s Rugby Club and Seanchoill.

From Meelick and Parteen to Parkville

Parkville FC began as Meelick Parteen FC before the Parkville name became the public identity for the growing football club. The change reflects stronger links across the nearby Limerick communities while keeping the club rooted in local volunteer work.

Since 16 August 2010, the club has played home games at Knockalisheen. That date is a key milestone because it places the modern club story around a recognised football home rather than a temporary or borrowed venue.

Knockalisheen match visit

Knockalisheen is the main match location for Parkville FC. Recent fixtures and results place Junior A, Junior B, under 17 boys, under 15 boys, under 11 boys and under 11 girls football at Knockalisheen, so families and visiting teams should treat it as the club’s main match day address unless a fixture names another venue.

Teams travelling to the north side of Limerick should confirm the exact pitch, warm up time and parking arrangement before leaving. When an activity is for Minis or younger training, check whether the venue is Knockalisheen, St Mary’s Rugby Club or Seanchoill.

Minis and first football

Parkville Minis gives boys and girls aged three to six a first step into football. The programme is built around simple games, movement, encouragement and a pressure free introduction, so children can join even if they have never kicked a ball before.

The Minis run on Saturday mornings at 9:00am on the astroturf at St Mary’s Rugby Club. The club gives the cost as €2 per session, with children able to move toward under 7 training at Seanchoill in Corbally when they reach six years of age.

Teams and player pathway

Parkville’s pathway reaches from under 7 to under 16 in the Limerick District Schoolboy and Schoolgirl League, with youth and junior football in the Limerick District League. Current club activity includes Junior A, Junior B, under 17 boys, under 18, under 16 girls, under 14 girls, under 15 boys, under 14 boys, under 13 boys, under 12 boys, under 11 boys and under 11 girls.

That breadth makes Parkville useful for siblings and families with players at different stages. A child can start with Minis, move into early team training, continue through school age football and still see a local route into youth or junior teams.

Club culture and volunteers

Parkville is chaired by Colm Prenderville and supported by a committee, coaches, volunteers, players and parents. That volunteer base is central to how the club keeps teams active across many ages and keeps the football experience local to Corbally, Meelick and Parteen.

The club’s own description places safety, inclusion and competition together. For parents, that means Parkville aims to provide a football setting where beginners, developing players and ambitious players can all find an appropriate level.
