Club story
A community club with Cork, Kerry and inclusive football threads
Rathcoole Rovers’ history page says the club was founded in 1978 by Alfie Cooney and became a founding member of the West Cork League. The same page records early success in the Kerry District League before the club later joined the Cork AUL.
The club’s honours page lists Kerry Youth Cup and League wins in 1982, an Under-17 Boys Cup in 2004, the Corinthians Cup and AUL Division 1 in 2007, Ladies League and Cup wins in 2008, St. Michael’s Cup in 2022, and Under-12 and U14 Division 7 and 8 league titles in 2025.
The current About page places Rathcoole Rovers in Cork AUL Murphy’s Stout League 1 Division and Cork Schoolboys League. It also names Under-13, Under-15, Football For All and men’s senior teams. Irish Youth Football currently has U11 and U14 records linked here, so the site coverage is useful but not the full club programme.
Football For All is a clear part of the club’s recent identity. Rathcoole’s history page says the initiative started in 2024 for primary school aged children, and the club homepage carries a Soccer 4 All update at Banteer Astro.
For visitors, the club About page names Cooney Park as the home ground. The official results feed also shows Cooney Park and Banteer community astroturf as venues, so check the latest fixture before travelling.
The official contact page gives Rathcool, Co. Cork and the club email route. It does not provide a verified Eircode, so this profile leaves the Eircode field blank rather than guessing one.
