Rockmount AFC at Rockmount Park
Rockmount AFC is a Cork club with 1924 roots, a Whitechurch home and a pathway from school age football into senior competition.
Rockmount identity
Rockmount Association Football Club is based in Whitechurch, County Cork. The club wears green and gold, carries the Rockmount name from its earliest Cork city story and plays from Rockmount Park.
The club has senior, junior and youth football activity, with the senior men connected to the Munster Senior League and the underage section giving local players a Cork school age route.
From Commons Road to Whitechurch
Rockmount began in the Commons Road area of Cork city in 1924. The name came from Rockmount House after the owner helped the young club with its first playing gear.
The first seasons quickly brought organised football, with Cork City Minor League entry in 1924–25, a Munster Youth Cup win in 1926–27 and Munster Junior League football against well known Cork and Munster names.
After club activity paused in 1935, Rockmount returned in 1951–52 as a schoolboy side. Junior football followed again in 1955–56, giving the club the adult and youth base that later grew into the modern Whitechurch set up.

Adult football pathway
Rockmount moved through Cork AUL football and later became a major Munster Senior League club. The senior story includes league titles, cup finals, national cup runs and long spells among the strongest intermediate sides in Munster.
The club also fields junior teams, so adult players can connect with Rockmount at more than one level. That mix helps older youth players see a route from school age football into adult squads.
School age football and academy
Rockmount’s underage work is a core part of the club. The schoolboy section has regularly carried up to ten teams in the Cork Schoolboys League, giving players a structured local route through age group football.
The academy and youth sections help families start with the right age group, training habit and match environment. FAI football camps and pitch care work at Rockmount Park also show how the venue supports young players beyond regular league weekends.
National cup nights
Rockmount have twice reached the FAI Cup quarter finals. In 1986–87 the run included wins over Monaghan United and Mervue United before a quarter final against Dundalk.
The 2004 FAI Cup campaign again included Monaghan United and brought Waterford United to a replay after a draw at the RSC. The club has also had repeated FAI Intermediate Cup final days, with wins at Turners Cross, Richmond Park and other senior venues in the story.

Colours and crest
Green and gold give Rockmount a strong visual identity. The crest uses a shield, the Rockmount name, a central doorway and column motif, wavy lines and AFC lettering.
Those details connect the modern badge to the club’s long Cork football identity, while the colours carry clearly across shirts, club media and the Whitechurch ground setting.
Match visit notes
For a visit to Rockmount Park, confirm the age group, pitch allocation, arrival time and team contact before leaving. Families should allow for normal community ground parking and for busy periods when several groups use the venue.
Players should bring boots, shin guards, water and weather gear. Visiting teams should agree warm up space and changing arrangements in advance with the Rockmount contact.
Joining and contact
New players should start with the club contact route and include the player’s age, school year, previous football and preferred section. Parents can also ask which training group is most suitable before registering.
Adults can help through coaching, supervision, committee work, pitch care, match day organisation and support for youth football. The club secretary email is available for first enquiries.
