Football shaped by its players
Stepaside FC gives children, teenagers and women a welcoming route into football in south Dublin.
Club story
A young club with rapid growth
Stepaside FC was founded in 2018 to develop girls’ and boys’ football in a positive, relaxed setting. Its history records more than 340 players and coaches by the start of the 2024/25 season, with young players given a voice in choices such as the club’s blue and black kit.
The club plays in the Dublin and District Schoolboys’ and Girls’ League and received the FAI Club Mark in 2022. Its current programme now reaches from the academy to under 18 football, with a senior ladies team adding an adult pathway.
Training and matches
Four locations to check before travelling
Stepaside uses several south Dublin venues. Families should confirm the exact location with the coach for every session or fixture.
Ballyogan Park
Main DDSL match venue, Ballyogan Road, Dublin 18, D18 HT72.
Stepaside All Weather
Academy training location named in the club’s current academy information.
Fernhill Park and Gardens
Community event and Mini World Cup venue on Enniskerry Road.
Jackson Park
Wayside Celtic venue used for cup fixtures and senior ladies matches, D18 RC03.
Player pathway
From first touches to under 18 football
The academy welcomes girls and boys aged four to seven, using games and simple drills to build confidence, friendship and enjoyment. The club’s 2026/27 registration information covers DDSL players from under 8 to under 18.
Ask which squad matches the player’s birth year, whether places are open and how the club balances training and weekend fixtures.
Girls and women
A pathway that now reaches senior football
The girls’ programme has grown strongly. In November 2025 two Stepaside girls’ sides met in an SFAI Cup fixture on the new Jackson Park astro, with the under 14 girls facing the under 13 girls in a notable club first.
The senior ladies won a league and cup double in 2025 and moved up from EWFL League 3. In September 2026 they were still challenging for the League 1 runners-up place and promotion to the Major Division.
The club is also encouraging more mothers and women to coach, with support promised for volunteers who are new to football.
