Tramore AFC is a football club in the seaside town of Tramore, County Waterford. Its home is Graun Park in Crobally Upper, and its football story extends from junior football to boys’ and girls’ teams, national youth trophies and players who represented Ireland.
Club history
From the Assembly Rooms to Graun Park
The club’s history dates its foundation to 29 August 1952, at a meeting in the Assembly Rooms. Jim Goodwin and Willie Quaid were among those behind its formation. The first team entered the Waterford Junior League wearing black shirts and used the old Graun Park with the racecourse company’s permission.
Schoolboy football followed in the early 1970s, led by Willie Moran and John Power. The club moved to its new Graun Park home in 1980/81; the formal opening came in 1987. An artificial playing surface opened in 2002, the year of its fiftieth anniversary.
The same account recalls women’s football in earlier decades and the expansion of girls’ football during the 2000s. It names Jim Goodwin, Derrick Williams, Jessica Gleeson and Ciara O’Brien among players who progressed to international football. Chris Jones earned an under 17 international cap in 1980.
Honours
National cups and local success
Tramore’s published honours include FAI Youth and under 17 national cups, four Premier League titles and the 2011 Aviva Club of the Year award. Its trophy record also lists the following successes. The club’s history is an archive, so these totals should not be read as a complete count to the present day.
Tramore added another national honour in June 2026. The under 17 girls won the FAI Women’s Under 17 Cup final 4–2 against Carrigaline United at Turner’s Cross. Francis McCann scored twice, with Saoirse Daly and Brooke Power adding the other goals.

Teams and development
Finding the right age group
The club’s training timetable includes boys’ teams from younger age groups through under 16, alongside girls’ under 10/12 and under 14/16/18 groups. It also refers to older birth years, so it needs confirmation before anyone uses it for a current training session.
For a new player, contact the club with the player’s date of birth and previous football experience. Ask which squad has places, when to attend, which pitch to use and what footwear is suitable. Training times, fees and squad availability are not confirmed here.
The teams, fixtures and results supplied to Irish Youth Football may cover only part of Tramore’s programme. An absent squad or fixture does not mean the club no longer runs that team. Confirm late changes with the club before travelling.

Black shirts and a coastal badge
Black is part of Tramore’s early identity in its account of the first team. The O’Neills club shop supplies current clubwear and displays the gull crest. Check the correct age group and shirt with the club before ordering, as match kits and training clothing can differ.
