Club story
From one senior side to a Dublin 15 football family
Verona FC was founded in Blanchardstown in 1967 by Noel Noonan, James Gargan, John Gargan, George Barton, Noel Hughes and Peter Hughes. The club’s own history says its first senior team played home games in the Phoenix Park and competed in the Dublin Metropolitan League.
Between 1970 and 1974, Verona moved its home football to Moortown in Mulhuddart, added a second senior side and entered its first boys’ team. In 1975 the club reached an agreement with the Dublin Diocesan Trust for the local parish field and adjoining clubhouse space. The same history records the revival of the juvenile branch in 1982 and the steady growth of underage football.
The club’s facilities took another step in 1996 when the Verona Sports & Leisure Club was opened and the wider organisation adopted that name. The legacy official club site still brings together football news, pitch information and the club’s academy material, while the present Verona FC web address remains the main club link held in the DDSL record.
Verona’s historical account describes two senior teams, thirteen juvenile teams and an over-35s side at the time it was written. It also records an annual summer mini-league for roughly 300 local boys and girls, alongside an academy for children aged four to nine. These are useful parts of the club story, but they are not treated as a current 2026–27 team count.
Irish Youth Football currently links nineteen Verona team records for 2026–27. Fourteen are marked as boys’ teams, four as girls’ teams and one U9 card has no pathway label. The age spread is one U9, four U12 records, two U13s, four U14s, six U15s, one U16 and one U17. There is no linked academy, U7, U8, U10, U11, U18, senior or over-35s card, so the relationship list does not cover every part of the club.
The fixtures view has no upcoming Verona game at present. The results view contains three youth records: a 1–1 U15 boys’ draw away to Glebe North, a 3–2 U12 boys’ home win over Kinsealy United and a 2–1 U16 boys’ win over Tolka Rovers. Dates, scores, opponent links and venues remain in the live panel. The DDSL results page is the attached source for those match rows.
Verona’s history says its senior and juvenile sides have won leagues, cups and tournaments, but the accessible club history does not provide a complete competition-by-competition roll. The club news archive does verify one named youth success: Verona U15A DDSL league winners collected their trophy in January 2018. That exact title is recorded here; unnamed past successes and cup-round wins are not converted into honours.
The club also earned the FAI Club Mark Entry Level Award in May 2019. Verona’s One Star announcement records the higher award in December 2020 and describes its recognised development plan, coaching structure, child welfare work and governance. Club Mark is an accreditation rather than a match trophy, so it sits apart from the U15 league honour.
The home colours are blue and white, with green listed for the away strip. The DDSL club profile supplies those descriptions, the crest and Coolmine Park as the ground. The league club map adds D15 WK79, matching the venue information carried across Verona’s linked team records.
Coolmine Park is the current youth match base in the league data. A DDSL cup record places Verona home matches there, and numerous current competition pages use the same venue. One recent IYF result is at Coolmine Park, while the other two were recorded at Town Park Balbriggan and Blanchardstown Parish Field. Families should never assume that an away row or a different Verona team uses the same pitch.
Fingal County Council’s playing-pitch service lists Coolmine Park among the Dublin 15 grass-pitch locations. The council’s weekly playability report is useful after poor weather because it shows if Coolmine Park’s council pitches are on or off.
Public sources checked for this profile do not clearly confirm spectator parking, football changing access, toilets, refreshments or a fully step-free route for every Verona youth fixture. The map uses Coolmine Park and D15 WK79. Visitors should still check the team message for the assigned pitch, entrance, surface, meeting point and any match-day facility arrangements.
