From a borrowed field
Walshestown Football Club was established in 1992. The club’s official account starts with football for thirty children in a borrowed field. Walshestown says it now has more than 400 members, including two senior teams and over 350 juvenile boys and girls.
The club is based in the townland of Rinkinstown, just off the R170 between Dunleer and Clogherhead. It is about six kilometres east of Dunleer and fifteen kilometres north east of Drogheda. The move from borrowed land to a multi pitch home reflects the growth of the club and the wider community around it.
Academy, boys, girls and senior football
The 2026 academy welcomes boys and girls aged four to six. Under 7 registration and juvenile membership continue the route into league football. Walshestown also runs specialist activity such as a ten week goalkeeper programme announced for spring 2026.
The Irish Youth Football records currently connect Walshestown teams across North Eastern Regional League competitions, with several youth age groups shown below. These cards are drawn from the live provider data and can include separate entries for competition and result records. They are not a complete register of every academy group, girls side or senior team.
A January 2026 club notice invited interest in a senior women’s team. The notice does not prove that the side entered a league, so this profile does not list it as an established current team. Families and adult players should use the membership and contact links for the newest availability.
Football for children with additional needs
Walshestown partnered with Albion Rovers on a Football For All block for boys and girls aged six to sixteen. The 2025 programme was supported by the FAI and Louth Sports Partnership. Ask the club about future dates because each block has its own registration window.

Selected honours and cup progress
Walshestown’s youth team won the NECSL Division 1 title in 2022. The club announced the championship before the final home match against Kells. Earlier that year, the under 18s beat Kilcullen 2–0 to reach the Leinster Youth Cup semi finals, with Oisin Gray and Jamie Donagh scoring.
The official honours page is currently empty, so these sourced youth achievements should not be treated as a complete roll. The club’s 2025 senior results also include a run to the Fitzsimons Cup quarter final, but this page leaves later trophies unstated until an official club or league source publishes a full result and season record.
Grounds and facilities
Walshestown describes two full size pitches and a smaller seven a side pitch, plus two floodlit training areas. The clubhouse has four changing rooms, referee facilities and catering facilities. Fixtures can use the main pitch or second pitch, so visitors should confirm the allocation in the team message.
The site is in Rinkinstown off the Dunleer to Clogherhead road. Public pages do not give a fixed parking capacity or a full step free route from the entrance to each pitch. Contact the club before travel if a player or visitor needs a specific access arrangement.
Colours and badge
The 2022 youth champions photograph shows red and white shirts with black shorts and socks. The badge uses a red striped shield with a football, a building and the founding year 1992. The badge shown at the top is drawn from the club’s official Facebook identity.
Safeguarding and club contacts
The 2026 contact list names Alison Hines as Club Children’s Officer and Brian Reilly as Designated Liaison Person. Roles can change, so safeguarding enquiries should be checked against the live contact page before use.

Record notes
A complete honours roll, full current team register, Eircode, parking capacity and detailed accessibility route were not found in stable official text. The official club video above covers its Football For All work and is not match footage. Current fixture and result cards remain the source for competition assignments held by Irish Youth Football.
