Club story
From friendly football to a lasting youth pathway
Birr’s historical account traces the move from an initial run of friendlies to organised league football. Its early unbeaten title campaign established a competitive footing, followed by an invitation into the Leinster Junior League’s Premier Division. In 1983, Birr became a founder member of the Offaly Schoolboys League, adding a youth route to its adult football.
The present club’s published profile reports more than 400 members and over 20 teams. Those figures describe the club’s own published overview, rather than a count of the team records displayed here. The combination of grass pitches and an all-weather area gives visiting players a clear reason to check which surface their session will use.
For families, the most useful first enquiry is about a particular age group and training location. The club contact page also directs safeguarding enquiries separately. Arrange any access requirements, parking advice or changing arrangements with the club before arrival; do not assume every facility will be open for every session.
