Inter Kenmare FC

Inter Kenmare gives Kenmare football a home at Dromneavane, with academy, boys, girls, senior and community football sharing one club base.

Club roots

A Kenmare Club With An Open Welcome

Inter Kenmare began in 1985 as Templenoe Tigers, a side with players from Ireland, England, Germany and Holland. In 1989 the club adopted the Internazionale name in honour of that mix of people and backgrounds, and the present Inter Kenmare identity still carries that wider Kenmare welcome.

The club describes itself as a community football club with no parish, gender, nationality, colour or creed favoured over another. That spirit gives the Dromneavane programme its shape: a player can start at academy age, move through Kerry Schoolboys and Girls League football and still see adult teams as part of the same club story.

Dromneavane

How The Club Found Its Football Home

Inter Kenmare spent part of its early life moving around the Kenmare area before settling for a time in Gortamullen on the Sneem Road. The move to Dromneavane gave the club space for a more permanent football home close to town.

The Dromneavane site now brings together two full size grass pitches, a clubhouse and the full size floodlit all weather soccer pitch opened in 2024. For parents and visiting teams, that means the club has one clear home address, but the assigned pitch still needs to be checked against the fixture.

Player pathway

From Small Sided Football To Senior Teams

The academy takes boys and girls from ages 4 to 9 in a fun, skills led setting, with weekly football through the school year and blitz days giving younger players their first taste of games.

The juvenile section competes in the Kerry Schoolboys and Girls League. The club lists boys and girls teams at under 12, under 13 and under 14, plus boys under 15 and boys under 16, with A and B squads at several age groups as numbers allow.

Girls and boys football

The pathway includes girls and boys squads at academy and underage level, with Dromneavane as the shared base for training, home games and club life.

Senior football

The senior men compete in the Kerry District League and have moved from Division 3 to Division 1 through successive promotion seasons. Inter Kenmare also traces its senior women back to a first competitive ladies team in 2008.

Youth squads

A Clear Run Of Age Groups

Inter Kenmare’s recent youth football stretches from boys under 11 through boys under 15, with girls squads at under 13 and under 16. For families and visiting teams, Dromneavane is the shared club base behind those squads, so fixture and result checks stay tied to the Kenmare ground.

Girls squads: Inter Kenmare Girls U-13 A and Inter Kenmare Girls U-16.
Boys squads: Inter Kenmare U-11 A, U-12 B, U-13 A, U-14 A, U-15 A and U-15 B.
Home base: Dromneavane, Kenmare.

Community football

Football For Everyone In Practice

The club’s own phrase, Football for Everyone, is not just about team names. At Dromneavane it sits beside academy football, girls and boys squads, senior teams and football for players with special needs, all sharing one set of club facilities.

The floodlit all weather pitch also gives local schools, community groups and clubs a place to book football time outside the weekly team schedule. That wider use is part of why Dromneavane has become more than a match pitch for Inter Kenmare; it is the place where the club welcomes new players, parents, coaches and neighbours into the same football space.

Families and visitors

Planning A First Visit

Dromneavane is the name to look for when checking Inter Kenmare home matches. The club site also carries academy, juvenile, senior men, senior women, registration and pitch rental details, so a parent can move from a first enquiry to the right contact point without having to piece together several football pages.

For match days, visiting teams should check the IYF fixture or result area for the competition, venue and kick off detail, then use the club address for travel. The all weather pitch gives the ground a clear year round football focus, but individual age groups and match slots remain tied to the competition schedule.
