Kilberry · County Meath

Torro United FC is based at Powderly Park near Navan. The club’s green and yellow colours run through a football programme that starts with young children and extends to men’s and women’s football.

From Kilberry to Powderly Park

The club’s account begins with a meeting at Kilberry old school in 1970, organised by Robbie Leonard, Jimmy Bellew and Hugh McHugh. Bellew proposed the Torro United name. The club’s 50th anniversary account instead gives 1972 as the founding year; the two published dates remain unresolved.

Its history records a return for the 1985/86 season, after the first club had stopped operating. PJ Geraghty and Paul Duffy approached the league, and Pascal Duffy became chairman and manager. Torro’s first underage team, an under 17 side, followed in 1986/87.

Cups and league honours

Torro’s published honours include Fitzsimons Cup wins in 1995/96, 2017/18 and 2024. The club also won Division 4B in 1986/87, Division 4 in 1994/95 and Division 3 in 1996/97.

The 1996/97 season brought the Premier B Reserve title and Fiachra O’Neill Shield. In 2017/18, another reserve title and the NEFL Club of the Year award accompanied the Fitzsimons Cup. Boys’ and girls’ under 14 Premier titles followed in 2019. Its honours list also records under 16 girls’ Premier League Cup, Challenge Cup and Premier Shield wins in 2024, alongside the under 16 boys’ Premier League Cup and under 14 girls’ Premier League. These are selected recorded honours, not a complete current trophy count.

Starting with Mini Stars

The club’s Mini Stars nursery introduces boys and girls to football together, with attention to agility, balance and coordination. The website describes Mini Stars as a programme for children aged four to six. Its wider programme includes youth football and adult men’s and women’s sides.

The North Eastern Regional League profile provides youth records. Team coverage here may not include every squad or nursery group. Confirm current age groups, places and training times directly with the club.

Club colours

Green and yellow

The league’s home kit photographs show a yellow and green shirt with green shorts and socks. Its alternate shirt is black and green. The league badge carries Torro United’s name, 1972 and the motto “Unity in Community”. The header illustration draws on the club’s archived shirt photograph and uses the older football and shield badge still displayed on the club website. The club contact page also lists a white and black alternate strip for senior teams; ask which kit your squad needs before ordering.

Visiting Powderly Park

Torro bought five acres in 1998. Its history describes two full size pitches, a training pitch, clubhouse and parking. The 2022 anniversary account explains that Powderly Park honours club servant Hubert Powderly and records the purchase of another four adjoining acres.

The club gives the ground’s Eircode as C15 AE98, on the local road between Rathcoon and Kilberry. Confirm your pitch and kick off time before travelling. Ask about toilet and changing room access, and any assistance needed on arrival.

Recognising the work behind the pitches

In 2026, the FAI honoured facilities manager Podge Halleran through its Volunteer Recognition Programme. Its account credits him with maintaining Torro’s facilities for 20 years and lists him among volunteers from Club Mark One Star clubs.

Fixtures, results and team coverage

The NERL team record contains Torro’s youth fixtures and results. Its August 2026 entries include boys’ under 12, under 14, under 15 and youth football, with girls’ under 13 and under 15 matches. These entries establish recorded coverage, not an exhaustive list of squads.

The club website lists youth teams, adult men and women, an over 35 page and Mini Stars. Some menu labels and division details come from earlier seasons. Check the relevant league and club before treating them as current.

Membership and welfare

Registration and support

The club directs members to Clubforce registration. Confirm the season, category, price and squad place before payment. Read the club’s code of conduct and member policies and ask for the current children’s officer if you need a welfare contact.

Training times, individual coaching contacts, accessibility facilities and places in specific squads have not been independently confirmed. Contact the club about any assistance needed for a player or visitor.
